It's No Longer About the Virtual Captain Obvious- It's About Leverage
IT is no longer about the "virtual captain obvious" aspects, but more than ever- IT should be about leveraging your technology, to increase the success of your business.
Rather than viewing as a necessity, it's time to start thinking about how it can make your business even better and reach greater outcomes.
How can you start shifting your perspective from the "virtual captain obvious" mindset to a "how can I leverage my technology" mindset?
1. Stop focusing on the number of tickets your IT provider closes. If your IT department spit out technical data about the number of tickets they open and close for you every month- this number is irrelevant.
IT issues are disruptive. And quite frankly- they are more disruptive to you than they are to your IT department. The goal should not be to parade how many tickets are closed, but how many less tickets can be created through a plan to leverage your technology.
2. You are thinking about how to protect yourself, but not thinking about how to use technology. If you hear your IT provider saying they're taking proactive measures, but not helping you understand technology and how to use it, it's actually reactive.
Don't get us wrong- when it comes to IT, issues being solved fast and efficiently, being protected and becoming a hard target to cyber criminals is crucial to the success of your business. But it's time to simultaneously think about how you can leverage your technology.
